Rother Valley Rippers - Go MTB sessions
Inspiring future riders
The Rother Valley Rippers sessions offer young riders the chance to develop their skills in structured sessions based around the BC Go-Ride sessions.
These sessions are open to any child. They do not have to be a member of the Adult RVR club. Over time & age it is hoped they would be integrated in to the RVR club, (in the way Cubs become Scouts, Brownies to Girl Guides).
The coach’s are level 2 MTB & Cycle Skills coach’s. Mountain Biking is the key focus for skills development. However this is often achieved by visiting Basic cycle skills & building skills from the basics onto Mtb skills.
Sessions are based weekly, between advertised dates through out the year & paid for at each session.
Spring / Summertime sees sessions done after school.
Autumn / Winter sees coaching at weekends due to daylight.
The skills are built around two ability levels, beginners and intermediates.
This also translates to an age split of 3-7 and 8-15.
Sessions are coached on the surrounding trails within Rother Valley Country Park and mini events such as timed runs and dual slaloms are a feature of the later sessions as skills develop.
Road trips to other geographical sites are undertaken from time to time.
Each Coach is limited to 15 riders per single Coach group session. This means one Coach can see 32 kids are coached within two daily sessions. However more Technical Trails may see that ratio reduced to 1 to 8.
Our coaching team is made up of 3 coaches, when all available.
All Coach’s are trained to British Cycling Level 2 MTB & Level 2 Cycle Skills, they have a combined 35 years of MTB riding under there belts!
The coach’s work closely with British Cycling to identify funding streams when needed to train additional coaches, to enable us to deliver more sessions.
If you would like to find out more about coaching opportunities that may be available, then contact the Rippers Team.
